Two Day - Mastering Portrait Photography Bootcamp
We are excited to announce the inaugural Mastering Portrait Photography Bootcamp, designed to boost your creativity, inspire you, elevate your photography skills and let you immerse yourself in all things photography.
Engage in an intensive two-day training experience focused on continuous practising and finessing your photography. We will explore various lighting techniques, including natural light, studio setups, and off-camera lighting with each of the models. Additionally, we will guide you through effective image processing workflow methods to prepare your images for stunning prints.
What we will cover;
- The fundamentals of reading light
- The principles of creating stunning portraits
- Understanding the limits of your camera settings (and just how much the technology can achieve!)
- Studio lighting patterns that are flattering and fast
- Different types of off-camera lighting from off-camera flash to continuous light
- Retouching files in Photoshop ready for stunning prints
- Different approaches for the different models over the two days
Throughout, Paul will take time to assess your images and provide guidance and feedback. You will finish the workshop inspired and full of ideas and confidence to create stunning portraits.
The number of attendees is strictly limited to 10 for this workshop, ensuring everyone has plenty of hands-on time with the models in addition to the perfect size to bounce ideas and good photography banter!
Lunch will be provided on both days (along with limitless tea and coffee!) and there is an option to stay on Monday evening for pizza, evening photography and photography chat. Accommodation costs are not included but we can recommend local places to stay.
Each attendee will be invited to our exclusive (and private) Facebook Group, where we post technical notes, behind-the-scenes insights, top tips and early bookings for our future workshops.

Some Lovely Feedback From Previous Available Light Workshops
Mastering Available Light was my second workshop with Paul; as with the previous visit, the hospitality by both Sarah and Paul was superb. Paul’s enthusiasm for photography & portraits is infectious, coupled with his knowledge of how to find and use the best available light offered a great learning experience for myself. I now feel I have new skills to use when shooting available light. The workshop was delivered in a professional and engaging style, with the right blend of demonstrations, Q&A and feedback, I would recommend a workshop with Paul without hesitation.
What a pleasure to see a true master of portrait photography in action. Paul shows you that stunning portraits can be taken in almost any type of natural light if you understand how to use it effectively. Thank you for a truly inspiring day.
A thoroughly enjoyable course run by Paul and Sarah which allowed me to further my knowledge of portrait photography in a relaxed and welcoming environment. I would recommend the course to anyone wanting to learn what goes into making a great portrait photo and how to analyse and utilise the best available light. Paul’s outstanding teachings were only surpassed by the beauty of the studio garden and Sarah’s excellent course organisation and hospitality. A really memorable day. Thank you.
