Ep.47 All Things Brand From Cars To Conversations
This podcast was triggered by us selling our trusty Land Rover Defender (though we are replacing it with a newer one) and pondering on why we chose such an esoteric car at the heart of our business. Well, of course, it’s all part of the brand we decided to build. And so I thought I’d chat a bit about just that: brand.
It’s so easy to think the brand is your logo, or website, or brochure design or, simply, your images but, of course, it’s not quite so simple. Your brand is everything your clients experiences, and I do mean everything. And that includes my beloved Land Rover.
Enjoy!
My father used to drive a Land Rover Santana (the long version) in the late 70s and 80s. It was a Spanish made version of the Defender, just one seat in the front row, no belts and could be accelerated by using a dented handle. Great car ;). My father got it installed a Garret turbo and an overdrive. With those, it was able to cruise at 90-100 km/h.
That’s really cool! I’d never heard of Santana until you mentioned it. Really interesting history (and, by all accounts, inventive – they developed features before Land Rover did!) They put turbo-diesels in before they were in the Defender!
I have to say the new one is quiet, warm and quick (words you don’t normally associated with a Land Rover Defender) but, reassuringly, it STILL LEAKS! Ah good, it is a REAL Defender! haha.
😀 if you find this case interesting, you might also find interesting there are others like the FIAT SEAT cars and like the Dodge cars made by Barreiros.
